The Alliance Lab at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance South Lake Union supports outpatient oncology care. The laboratory performs testing in Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, and Urinalysis.

  • This posting is for a Certified Clincial Lab Tecnician I/II depending on applicable qualifications. 
  • The CTL I performs lab tests and processes on patient samples or products which involves operating analytical instruments, compiling and verifying the accuracy of clinical data and complying with the laboratory QA/QC program.
  • The CLT II will do the above and may provide training to others as well as participate in lab inventory and projects.

Responsibilities

The CTL I:

 

  • Handles biological specimens and products; performs clinical assays and lab processes by following the Standard Operating Procedures
  • Operates analytical instruments, compiles and analyzes clinical data, verifies its accuracy, and reports results
  • Performs laboratory quality controls measurements
  • Prepares reagents and materials for clinical procedures
  • Enters patient and specimen information and results in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Performs regular maintenance and troubleshooting on analytical instruments

The CTL II will do the above and:

  • Complete projects with minimal supervision
  • Perform specialized operational duties
  • May be responsible for inventory
  • May participate in new laboratory staff orientation and training

Qualifications

The CTL I requirements:

  • AA/AS in Medical Technology or related field.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent.
  • Prior training/working experience in a clinical laboratory
  • Proficiency with email, spreadsheets, and word processing
  • Manual computation skills
  • Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear, concise and professional manner
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a high pressure, time-sensitive, and complex health care environment
  • Ability to identify and triage issues appropriately
  • Familiarity with medical terminology

The CTL II requirements:

  • AA/AS in Medical Technology or related field.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent.
  • Shares learned information
  • Performs laboratory quality control measurements
  • Ability to organize and manage time and tasks independently
  • Prior training/working experience in a clinical laboratory
  • Proficiency with email, spreadsheets, and word processing
  • Manual computation skills
  • Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear, concise and professional manner
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a high pressure, time-sensitive, and complex health care environment
  • Ability to identify and triage issues appropriately
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Knowledge and understand of applicable laboratory regulations preferred

Promotion to CLT II and III is possible after joining the Alliance Lab team following our career ladder plan.  Promotion to CLT II is possible as soon as 6 months after initial training is successfully completed in the lab, promotion from CLT II to CLT III is possible as soon as 1 year after training/competency at the CLT II level.

 

SCCA has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy, and there are no exceptions for any employee who is patient-facing and/or requires access to SCCA facilities.

Exceptions exist only for employees whose positions are fully remote, with no required access to campus. As a condition of employment, newly hired employees requiring access to campus must provide proof of vaccination before their first day of employment.
