The Alliance Lab Testing Manager will do the following:

  • Responsible for the daily operations of Alliance Lab & Satellite Labs Testing Services, which includes hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, and coagulation.  Responsibilities include the coordination and monitoring of SCCA and departmental policies and procedures, quality control, quality assurance and quality improvement, equipment and supply inventories, troubleshooting, staffing, preventative maintenance, safety, and continuing education.
  • Maintain responsibility for testing services (7070) including pricing, preparation, monitoring & investigation, and reporting of variances.
  • Works independently in managing departmental functions within the framework of department and division policies and procedures.
  • Oversee personnel including training, engagement, development, onboarding and offboarding. Work in conjunction with HR on required personnel action. #ZR

Responsibilities

  • Manage the laboratory quality improvement/quality assurance program.  Work with Alliance Lab Sr. Manager and SCCA Medical and Administrative Director to establish and implement appropriate quality and safety measures to ensure high quality results and patient safety.  Ensure consistent monitoring and documentation of quality indicators to identify areas for improvement and report to the Laboratory QI/Integrity Committee.
  • Coordinate proficiency testing as required by CAP.  Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement plans.  Collect, monitor and evaluate quality indicators to identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of department purpose and goals.  Work with Alliance Lab Sr. Manager in long-term planning of department operation including anticipation of staff and space needs and changes in procedures.
  • Develop operating and capital budgets, monitor expenses and revenue, investigate and report budget variances.
  • Manage the maintenance of instrumentation and inventories. Make recommendations for the selection of new laboratory instruments, related equipment, and supplies.
  • Represent the Alliance Lab & Satellite Labs Testing Services at meetings with other health care personnel at the SCCA or elsewhere in the medical system. Attends assigned committee meetings as required. Communicate information, both technical and administrative, to the appropriate faculty, directors, and staff.  Contribute to projects across departments and partner organizations.  May include travel to other sites.
  • Work closely and cooperatively with Alliance Lab department leadership to develop and implement department operating goals and strategic plans.

Qualifications

Required:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent field
  • Certification with ASCP or equivalent
  • Meets the CLIA requirements for a general supervisor, technical consultant, and technical supervisor.
  • Knowledge of CLIA and CAP regulations.
  • Demonstrated direct or indirect leadership of lab projects (new test validation, process improvement, employee engagement, etc.).

Preferred:

 

  • Master's Degree in applicable field
  • Four years of experience at the Clinical Technician III or lead level
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Budget preparation and monitoring.

SCCA has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy, and there are no exceptions for any employee who is patient-facing and/or requires access to SCCA facilities.
