The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.


This PA or NP provides clinical care to patients of the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance Lung Cancer Early Detection and Prevention Clinic (LCEDPC), the Lung Cancer Screening (LCS) program as well as the Pulmonary Consult Service. The clinician will be responsible for patient intake, pre-clinic data evaluation, patient assessment, and longitudinal care. The clinician will coordinate the care of patients in the LCS program of the University of Washington/Seattle Cancer Care Alliance in conjunction with the Medical Director of the Lung Cancer Screening Program and care for patients with pulmonary abnormalities concerning for cancer in the Lung Cancer Early Detection and Prevention Clinic (LCEDPC). The clinician will also provide cross-coverage, as needed, for all Pulmonary Services at the SCCA.


  • Evaluates 3-4 new patients in LCEDPC (staffing with attending) and up to 3 follow-ups (with or without attending staffing) each Wednesday (8 hours)
  • Staff an independent LCEDPC follow-up clinic on a separate day from the main LCEPDC clinic to follow high-risk cases
  • Prepares for LCEDPC by reviewing all cases prior to clinic (4 hours)
  • Interfaces with pulmonary nurse, medical director, PCC team, wellness staff to ensure all visits are appropriately triaged, all appropriate images, reports and results are obtained (4 hours)
  • Is the first contact for LCEDPC questions from other services, interfacing with medical director where appropriate (2 hours)
  • Documents all nodule board summaries and communicates all results to patients, ordering follow-up imaging where appropriate (2 hours)
  • Maintains 2 spreadsheets summarizing nodule tracking (2 hours)
  • Maintains quality metrics for LCEDPC including patients seen, demographics and follow-up (1-2 hours)
  • Assists with advanced bronchoscopy procedures performed at SCCA (Thursday morning, Tuesday afternoon prn) and at UW (possible additional afternoon/week) (4-8 hours)
  • Meets biweekly with medical director to discuss clinical issues (30 minutes)
  • Places all orders before and during LCEDPC (1 hour)
  • Attends tumor board at UW (Tuesday afternoons, 1-2 hours)
  • Provides cross-coverage to pulmonary consult service APP, when needed
  • Provides cross-coverage and assistance to lung cancer screening service, when needed


  • Must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant training program or appropriate Nurse Practitioner program and be able to practice in the state of Washington (licensed).
  • One year of ARNP or PA-C experience in Medical Oncology
  • Strong team player with a can-do attitude is a must
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team is essential
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
  • Washington state & DEA licensure
  • ACLS certification
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • EMR experience
  • Proficiency with Excel and Word

SCCA has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy, and there are no exceptions for any employee who is patient-facing and/or requires access to SCCA facilities.
