The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.


The Alliance Lab Testing Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of Alliance Lab Community Site & Satellite Labs Testing Services, which includes hematology, chemistry, and basic specimen processing.  Responsibilities include the coordination and monitoring of SCCA and departmental policies and procedures, quality control, quality assurance and quality improvement, supply inventories, troubleshooting, staffing, preventative maintenance, safety, and continuing education. This position requires regular travel to SCCA community sites including SCCA Evergreen in Kirkland, SCCA Peninsula in Poulsbo, and SCCA Overlake in Bellevue in addition to working at the main Alliance Lab in South Lake Union.



  • Provide direct technical and regulatory oversight in coordination with the main Alliance Lab at South Lake Union.
  • Oversee personnel including training, engagement, development, onboarding and offboarding. Work in conjunction with HR on required personnel action.
  • Team member is required to maintain competency on all community site instruments/equipment and provide bench coverage when needed due to PTO, sick calls, short staffing, etc.
  • Implement the Alliance Lab quality improvement/quality assurance program at community sites.  Work with Alliance Lab Sr. Manager, the Testing Manager, and the Testing Leads to implement and maintain quality and safety measures to ensure high quality results and patient safety.  Ensure consistent monitoring and documentation of quality indicators to identify areas for improvement and report to the Laboratory QI/Integrity Committee.
  • Coordinate proficiency testing as required by CAP.  Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement plans. Participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Alliance Lab purpose and goals.  Work with Alliance Lab Sr. Manager and Testing Manager to align community site labs with Alliance Lab purpose and goals.
  • Manage the maintenance of instrumentation and inventories. Participate in the selection of new laboratory instruments, related equipment, and supplies.  
  • Represent the Alliance Lab at each community site. Attend assigned committee meetings as required. Communicate information, both technical and administrative, to the appropriate faculty, directors, and staff.  Contribute to projects across departments and partner organizations. 
  • Work closely and cooperatively with Alliance Lab department leadership to develop and implement department operating goals and strategic plans. 



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent field.
  • Two years of experience at the Clinical Lab Tech III or lead level
  • Meets the CLIA requirements for a general supervisor, technical consultant, and technical supervisor.
  • Certification with ASCP or equivalent
  • Knowledge of CLIA and CAP regulations.
  • Demonstrated direct or indirect leadership of lab projects (new test validation, process improvement, employee engagement, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement is a must.


  • Master's Degree in applicable field
  • Supervisory or lead experience preferred
  • CAP Inspector - Team Member certification preferred
