Responsibilities

Responsible for providing clinical leadership and oversight for the Supportive Care Division in partnership with the operations managers and Medical Directors.


This position requires strong leadership and mature judgment to ensure high standards that comply with all regulatory requirements while promoting clinical and support service excellence.


Areas of focus vary based on the organization's strategic goals and prioritization:

  • Ensures compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Develops a collaborative work environment across all SCCA sites and with our community partners.
  • Provides administrative, clinical, and strategic direction while mentoring and developing leaders and staff.

Key Requirements
People:

  • Develops and cultivates a culture that promotes an inclusive workplace
  • Develops and maintains effective organization of responsibility, including efficient recruiting, training, coaching, recognition, performance standards, clinical competencies, delineation of duties/roles/responsibilities/authority.
  • Supports managers in addressing individual and team personnel challenges.
  • Assist managers in assessment of staffing needs; represent the division in requisitions for new positions
  • Develops and fosters a culture that promotes recognition of individual, team, and department wide accomplishments. Actively recognizes individuals for good performance and uses each opportunity as an example for the staff.
  • Assures effective educational services are provided for areas of responsibility
  • Develops and manages a workforce plan to include leadership development of supervisors and managers
  • Coaches/mentors staff, providing an evaluation of staff performance through timely discussion and feedback


Service:

  • Develops and implements an integrated multi-disciplinary operational plan and model to deliver patient focused care and services across programs of responsibility.
  • Develops new programs in partnerships with Medical Directors & Managers.
  • Ensures division strives for the latest industry standards regarding quality, technology, and workflow processes for optimal patient care and clinical efficiency.
  • Oversees division activities related to quality improvement, risk management and safe practice, ensuring all requirements for federal, state, or local regulatory agencies and complies with all TJC guidelines
  • Accountable for the development, implementation, and maintenance of Standards of Practice, policies, and proceduresconsistent with quality care and appropriate to each site.
  • Provides direct oversight of Integrative Medicine, Medical Nutrition, Pain Clinic, Palliative Care, Patient Navigation, Physical Therapy, Psychiatry, Social Work and Spiritual Health.
  • Partners effectively with colleagues on the impact of strategic initiatives and projects across the organization.
  • Assesses, understands, and communicates the impact of strategic decisions and initiatives to senior leadership.
  • Promotes and supports the cultivation, dissemination and integration of local, national, and international trends and best practices for academic and community cancer programs.
  • Participates as a member of various SCCA committees involved in policy and procedure development, program planning, and working processes.


Financial

  • Accountable for financial management of assigned area including the development and monitoring of budget, productivity measures and internal controls for data and configuration control
  • Partners with senior leadership in creating operating and capital budgets

Qualifications

Required:

  • Advanced degree required, preferably Masters in Nursing(MS), Masters in Healthcare Administration(MHA), Masters in Public Health or Business (MPH, MBA)
  • 7+ years in a healthcare setting, ideally in oncology services
  • 5+ years in a progressive leadership role
  • RN preferred with a valid WA license or eligible for a WA license
  • Previous experience in Supportive Care and Wellness services
  • Detail-oriented and data-driven
  • Strong business acumen with a broad understanding of fundamental business principles
  • Analytical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to set department strategy and drive process improvement
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and build a consensus
  • Strong customer / patient orientation focus
  • Knowledgeable of all policies and procedures that affect the outcomes of patient care, employee rights and responsibilities
  • Knowledgeable of current healthcare environment/regulations and impact to hospital operations
  • Influence organizational diveristy; Actively engage internal and external partners to achieve diveristy and inclusion objective and build climate of inclusion and support within the workforce
