Responsibilities

The Nurse Director of Ambulatory Clinics is accountable for providing clinical leadership and direction in departments/clinics as assigned. Areas of focus vary based on organizational need and prioritization.

  • Assists in integrating strategies of process improvement into maximizing efficiency of resources while assuring patient care is safe, efficient and effective
  • Responsible for the direction, development and operationalization of business systems and processes that support the operations of the clinics (3rd, 4th & 7th floors)
  • Works diligently to create positive collaborative work environment for all staff, physicians and patients
  • Directs a dynamic team of leaders, both management and line staff

 

Primary responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an operational plan to deliver patient focused care and services
  • Develop and maintain effective organization of responsibility, including efficient recruiting, training, coaching, recognition, workflow, performance standards, delineation of duties and roles, staffing levels and supervision
  • Develop operating and capital budgets for and provide oversight to assigned areas
  • Ensure SCCA has the latest industry standard with regard to quality, technology, and workflow processes for patient experience for scheduling, rooming, access and other functions
  • Provide strong, dynamic leadership that mentors, develops and guides team members to efficiently leverage the value for the patient in every contact
  • Evaluate, develop, and coordinate projects. Provide leadership using skills such as collaboration, motivation, and knowledge of clinical analytics to help drive decision making.
  • Oversees department activities related to quality improvement, risk management and safe practice
  • Assures compliance with SCCA quality improvement programs, external agencies, and regulatory bodies
  • Accountable for the development, implementation, and maintenance of Standards of Practice consistent with quality care
  • Partners effectively with colleagues on the impact of strategic initiatives and projects across the organization
  • Assesses, understands, and communicates the impact of strategic decisions and initiatives to senior leadership

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or related field
  • Previous budget experience, managing revenue and standard budget process
  • Demonstrated project development skills (example of project work ideal)
  • Experience in health care leadership role
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage through change
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity and empathy in an emotionally challenging environment
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone and in writing in a clear concise and professional manner
  • Ability to work in a high pressure, time-sensitive and complex health care environment
  • Conflict mitigation, mediation, and resolution skills
  • Ability to provide constructive and effective feedback
  • Ability to communicate and work with all levels of management and physician leadership
  • Critical thinking and judgement


Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or related field
  • Previous experience in oncology
  • Previous experience in relation to patient access
  • Knowledge of data analytics as applied to healthcare
  • Previous experience in systems using Lean methodology or similar Continuous Performance Improvement initiatives
