The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.


  • Assists in the preparation and review of drug study protocols
  • Collaborates with investigators in support of investigational drug studies
  • Provide IDS pricing for IDS services for inclusion in the study budget negotiations
  • Assist in the communication between investigator and clinical staff (providers, nurses, pharmacists) to help ensure feasibility and implementation of the investigational protocol
  • Prepare feasibility summary for each study regarding investigational product storage, dispensing, accountability, and regulatory documentation to assist IDS pharmacists in study implementation
  • Provide other staff with drug information regarding standard of care therapy and investigational drugs used in clinical studies
  • Inform investigators of institutional and investigational drug service policies and procedures
  • Review study protocols for potential pharmacy involvement and requirements for drug storage, distribution and administration.
  • Provide consultation to investigators regarding drug related matters in the design of protocols



  • Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy
  • At least two years’ experience in institutional pharmacy or Investigational Drug Service Residency
  • Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a pharmacist in the State of Washington
  • Ability to communicate with investigators relative to investigational drug studies
  • Ability to participate in protocol development and implementation
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality according to departmental and institutional standards
  • Ability to follow all state, federal, SCCA, UW Medical Center, Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission rules and regulations


  • Completion of ASHP-accredited PGY2 Oncology or Investigational Drug Service Residency program or advanced degree desired
