Overview

Reporting to the Associate Administrator, the Quality Improvement & Research Coordinator works with all Center personnel to ensure consistency and reliability in policies and procedures and treatment protocols that govern the high quality, compassionate and safe delivery of all patient care provided at the Center.  The Quality Improvement & Research Coordinator, in consultation with the Associate Administrator, will coordinate and facilitate operational and process improvements identified through event reporting, participation in safety committees, risk assessments, and other data collection efforts.  This position functions as the Research Coordinator, collaborating with UW/SCCA research coordinators in ensuring the Center meets all requirements of study protocols and promoting Center participation in research.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes materials for quarterly Quality Committee, Patient Safety Committee, and Patient Feedback Committee meetings
  • Coordinates all subcommittees of the Quality Committee to ensure they meet as required and facilitates subcommittee reporting to Quality Committee.
  • Serves as a member on the Employee Safety Committee.
  • Arranges weekly event reporting team, documenting review and mitigation tactics for events reported through the ROILS system.   Tracks follow through of identified improvements and reporting to the Patient Safety Committee and Quality Committee.
  • Coordinates appropriate responses to patient complaints and UW/SCCA Risk Management issues related to Center faculty. 
  • Provides input into improvement priorities based on appropriate risk assessments and other data sources.
  • Organizes staff education on quality assurance, quality improvement, and HIPAA Privacy.
  • Coordinates annual all-staff education requirements.
  • Prepares physician credentialing dashboards to be provided to the physicians quarterly.
  • Organizes SPC clinical research coordination team.  Works closely with the UW Radiation Oncology research coordinators.  Serves as the Center’s research coordinator.
  • Maintains the electronic document library (PPM).  Works with leadership and management team in the timely creation, and ongoing review of Center policy and procedures. 
  • Organizes/Facilitates third party audits as appropriate (e.g. ACRO; ASTRO; CMS; Department of Health, etc.) 
  • Coordinates with the Radiation Safety Officer to ensure compliance with the Radiation Safety Program. 
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years working in quality or research coordination
  • Oncology experience preferred
  • Knowledge of basic quality improvement and patient safety principles and tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Technical problem solving
  • Excellent analytical skills, including Excel
  • Excellent computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office products
  • Project coordination skills

 

EDUCATION/DEGREE:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

 

OTHER:

  • CPHQ, ASQ Certification (CQE or CQA), a plus
  • Ability to work flexible hours if needed
  • Ability to travel for educational / training purposes, including overnight
