    The Dietitian II provides nutrition assessment, education and counseling for General Oncology patients, and provides Hematopoietic Cell Transplant patient coverage as needed. This position reports to the Manager, Medical Nutrition Therapy.

    Responsibilities

    • Exercise independent judgment regarding the coordination and implementation of patient care monitoring and assessment, medical nutrition therapy management, and patient/professional education.
    • Manage medical nutrition therapy and nutrition support practices including the coordination of enteral and parenteral feeding practices.
    • Integrate anthropometric measurements, lab­oratory data, medications, medical history, clinical status and other pertinent into the medical nutrition plan.Manage the nutrition monitoring, support and education of all SCCA clinic patient populations. Provide education to patients, families, staff, students, and the community at large. 
    • Maintain written and verbal communications with the interdisciplinary medical team regarding patients per department standards. Meet regulatory and standard practice requirements (TJC, DOH, etc).
    • Provide education to patients and caregivers through individual counseling and group education.
    • Participate in department quality assurance programs.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Registered Dietitian, Washington state Certified Dietitian (or ability to become certified if from another state).
    • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or related field.
    • Minimum of two-three years General Oncology and/or Hematopoeitic Cell Transplant hospital and/or ambulatory clinic clinical experience.
    • Competency in areas of oncology nutrition management: medical nutrition therapy, physiology and metabolism, total parenteral and enteral nutrition support and application as well as patient education.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills including teaching ability (one-to-one and in groups). 
    • On-the-job experience with computerized medical record access and charting therein.
    • Working knowledge of computer systems including word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
       

    Preferred:

    • Clinical Nutrition Master's Degree
    • Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO)

    • Able to work independently
