The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.


As a Cloud DevOps Engineer, you will help support every facet of the devops lifecycle.  You will be responsible for developing and managing cloud server infrastructure and networks, monitoring and improving system performance, building and maintaining CI/CD systems that facilitate build automation and automated testing, and help formulate security policies.  You will work with operations, support and engineering teams to ensure the automation platform is capable of serving current and future needs. You will document and drive best-practices across the team.


The ideal candidate is proficient in coding, thinks in terms of architecture and test automation, and has substantive experience writing code running within a changing environment where servers and databases are not permanent and interchangeable.


Using various automated tools, you will provide scalable and reliable solutions to manage private clouds. Additionally, this position will own tasks to resolution; interfacing with developers and support to escalate, reproduce, validate, perform training, debug or deploy software.

  • Develop automations using APIs and SDKs to manage the infrastructure
  • Research/analyze data processing functions, methods and procedures
  • Monitor production systems for expected performance
  • Perform root cause analysis on production issues and determine action items for prevention and resolution
  • Automate work to prevent repetitive work
  • Participate in architectural decisions about the next iterations of our cloud environments
  • Educate others within the organization about cloud best practices and automation



  • Strong knowledge with one or more build automation tool (such as Jenkins, Hudson, Bamboo)
  • Experience with application and systems monitoring services (such as App Dynamics, New Relic, Datadog)
  • Experience with containerization tools (Docker)


  • Experience working with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Strong knowledge with one or more configuration management tools (such as Chef, Docker, Puppet, Ansible)
  • Experience with log aggregation tools and services (such as Splunk, Loggly, Logentries, Papertrail)
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure scripting tools (such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible)
  • Proven, hands-on experience with Linux and Windows
  • DevOps and DevOps best practices
  • Agile scrum development experience
  • Software Development Lifecycle, including system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation
  • Strong desire to pursue the principles of infrastructure as code, holistic infrastructure design, immutable infrastructure, and orchestration and automation whenever possible
  • Ability to work in efficiently in a fast-paced, fluid environment
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Sound problem resolution, judgment, decision-making and influencing skills
  • Self-starter and ability to work in a team environment
  • Desire and aptitude to continue to learn new technologies.
  • Certification in cloud technologies a plus
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in enterprise level IT projects Cloud based technologies (PaaS, IaaS, Cloud Infrastructure Services)
