Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, UW Medicine, and Seattle Children's. The Associate Marketing Manager is a leader on the Marketing and Communications team, reporting to a Senior Marketing Manager. She/he regularly works cross-functionally within the organization and may oversee one or more Marketing Coordinators. The Associate Marketing Manager contributes to the organization’s success by defining customer-centric marketing strategies. She/he manages budget and sets direction for the Marketing and Communications team to achieve SCCA’s financial and business objectives.


Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Works cross-functionally and with the Marketing and Communications team to support organizational objectives through concerted efforts focusing on specific service lines and initiatives.
  • Leads and/or oversees day to day management of marketing activities including but not limited to development of service line plans, planning and orchestrating events/sponsorships, writing and distributing internal and patient-facing communications.
  • Develops and executes marketing plans and programs that support the organization’s objectives. Manages the activities against operating plans and budgets.
  • Builds strong relationships within a matrix structure to ensure achievement of business objectives as well as marketing message consistency and campaign effectiveness.
  • Promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership and teamwork to achieve business results.
  • Provides coaching, direction, and leadership support to team members in order to achieve business results.
  • Collaborates with internal and external strategic business partners to develop joint marketing strategies and plans; oversees implementation and monitors results.
  • Researches consumer markets, monitors market trends and identifies potential areas in which to invest, based upon consumer needs and other opportunities.
  • Applies consumer insights and understanding of marketplace dynamics to develop compelling marketing campaigns and promotions.
  • Serves as an internal advocate for the brand, clearly communicating the importance of each staff member to the success of the brand and motivating staff to embrace and become champions for the brand.


Summary of Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field; agency or client-side marketing experience is a plus
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in a role supporting marketing, brand management or public relations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in marketing-related subjects (marketing planning, market research, consumer behavior, marketing analytics, etc.)
  • Successful track record of project leadership in a cross-functional environment requiring effective collaboration and project management with teams, internal stakeholders, agencies, and/or consultants.
  • Budget-management proficiency.
