Overview

The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's. Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.

 

 

The Senior Manager, Digital Strategy will lead digital strategy for SCCA, to include the continued evolution of an online site portfolio using the latest ideas and development strategies in web technology to provide a world-class online experience.

 

As a member of the SCCA Marketing and Communications team, the senior manager will demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the role of the web within an overall marketing strategy designed to advance the goals and reputation of the organization. This position will oversee Digital, Web, Social channels and will have strategic technical and editorial responsibility for Seattle Cancer Care Alliance’s web properties and other online efforts and will report to the director, marketing/communications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead digital brand strategy of the online portfolio using the latest ideas and development strategies in web technology.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the role of the web within an overall marketing strategy designed to advance the goals and reputation of the organization.
  • Lead continued digital development efforts to support current and developing initiatives across the organization's mission.
  • Research, plan and implement web sites for key marketing initiatives.
  • Direct reporting and analysis of website data as it relates to content, service lines, advertising, marketing, and planning.
  • Champion Patient Centered Development and Design within the organization as it relates to the digital experience.
  • Lead evolution and innovation of digital strategy for the primary public site to strengthen user experience and better align to marketing planning.

Strategy, Vision & Innovation

  • Serve as the voice of the patient to define the design attributes of a digital product or service, including the features, functionality and user experience.
  • Partner with leaders across the alliance (Fred Hutch, UW Medicine and Seattle Children’s) to identify, develop and implement digital-related solutions that help drive clarity and understanding of the alliance partnership and patient services
  • Lead ongoing planning to support current and developing digital initiatives across the organization's mission.
  • Serve as the primary lead to identify and manage online agencies and other outside resources, such as contractors
  • Define and manage web budgets, roadmaps and implementation strategies.
  • Manage a long-term strategic roadmap of web and technology initiatives through modern development processes.
  • Demonstrate an ability to drive strategic technology choices from a business and patient need.

 

Web Analytics and Insights

  • Gather and analyze customer feedback through analytics tools, A/B testing, surveys and focus groups.
  • Utilize analysis and metrics to proactively identify opportunities and provide actionable recommendations that continuously improve and maximize website effectiveness, increase traffic, and enhance website usability.
  • Supervise tracking and analysis of results driven by online, print and broadcast ad campaigns.
  • Explore new and innovative web marketing initiatives.
  • High proficiency in Google Analytics and Tag Manager.

 

IA, UX and Content Strategy 

  • Participate in content strategy development to strengthen user experience and maximize digital and social media space.
  • Collaborate with content team in the creation/adaptation of expanded content that reflect user needs and the needs of the business.
  • Manage varied vendor relationships in the delivery of content strategy and development including writers, videographers, photographers, etc.
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of consumer behaviors in the search for cancer/health care and ensure the site is optimized accordingly.

 

Social Media 

  • Lead the continued development of social channels and engagement to support current and developing initiatives across the organization's mission.
  • Partner with marketing and external media peers to drive social media and engagement.
  • Provide consistency across the organization, stay abreast of the emerging social media technologies and guide the organization to leverage new online tools and platforms to help us advance our mission.

Technical

  • Oversee the web site backlog by prioritizing feedback, bug fixes and the feature roadmap to rapidly iterate the patient experience
  • Partner with IT and/or other internal departments to ensure technical requirements and project timelines are met; monitor legal, privacy, and security concerns related to the use of the website.

 

Communication

  • Clearly communicate organizational goals strategies to key department/stakeholders.
  • Ensure managers/team are accountable for high performance.
  • Support team in maintaining a positive working environment.
  • Drive collaboration and team dynamic to foster a strong, engaged team environment
  • Align budgets and resources to meet goals.
  • Represent the department in clearing obstacles to high performance.
  • Look for and develop high-performing talent.
  • Support supervisors and managers in engagement efforts.
  • Strong, confident, compelling presenter with developed communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Proficiency in social media management, email marketing, content development and management, web strategy development, and content manage systems, specifically Drupal.
  • 10+ years in producing and managing websites.
  • 10+ years in managing small teams.
  • Broad and deep understanding and experience producing for a variety of digital channels and social media.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Passion for storytelling, connecting with people and bringing brands to life in the digital space and with key audiences.
