Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, UW Medicine, and Seattle Children's. The Social Media/Content Manager is part of the Marketing and Communications team at SCCA  to seek out and tell the dynamic stories of SCCA across all of the organization’s communications channels – including the online channels, patient and referring physician audiences, broadcast content, digital campaigns and internal communications . The Social Media/Content Manager develops, promotes, engages and monitors online content across multiple digital channels and social media properties to engage healthcare influencers, current and former patients, members of the press, and other key audiences. He/she works with the digital Strategy team to develop compelling digital content and engagement to contribute to the overall SCCA brand and the organization’s reputation for excellence. The position will report to the Senior Manager, Digital Strategy. 


Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop, create and execute engaging content to grow and motivate audiences on social media.
  • Coordinate content with members of the marketing team and various internal stakeholders for social media properties on a day-to-day basis.
  • Monitor and participate in online conversations to build brand visibility and thought leadership and engagement.
  • Assist in production and writing for integrated digital campaigns on social networks,, and email.
  • Develop and implement innovative strategies and content for digital supporter engagement on social media properties.
  • Creatively and proactively engage social media community members, including identifying and engaging key influencers and “super advocates.”
  • Understand and analyze the healthcare environment and news and ensure that SCCA is a leader in relevant, rapidly shifting online discussions.
  • Leverage metrics to evaluate digital content and campaigns to guide and inform future strategies.
  • Proactively escalate issues, observations, opportunities, and insights to the marketing team and other key stakeholders.
  • Work to provide social media best practices across the organization and assist affiliates in their social media strategy.
  • Develop, create and share best practices in reporting social media metrics.
  • Provide editorial and production support as necessary to content producer and other members of the digital strategy team.


Summary of Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or related field.
  • Proficiency with social media, email marketing, content production and web content management tools.
  • Minimum 4 years of social media campaign and content development and execution.
  • Demonstrated engagement of target audiences through various social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.
  • HTML skills preferred.
  • Basic graphics skills preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Passion for storytelling, connecting with people, and bringing brands to life in a way that is relevant to key audiences.
  • Ability to handle multiple, high-priority projects simultaneously and meet established deadlines and budget.
  • Ability to work independently while keeping team members in the loop on progress and requesting feedback and support as needed.
  • Expertise in writing and editing in a fast-paced digital environment. Health and/or science writing experience a plus.
  • Broad understanding and experience producing for digital channels and social media, including traditional (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest), video and emerging players.
  • Proficiency in search engine optimization best practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with developers, stakeholders, clients and producers.
  • Deadline-driven with a track record of completing and delivering quality product.
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail is essential
  • Must be comfortable learning and using new technologies.
