The primary purpose of this role is to support the financial decision making of the organization to ensure the long-term profitability of the SCCA through the long range financial model and through financial analysis as it relates to business development and investments. This position reports directly to the Manager of Business Economics. 


Develops the framework and maintains the organizations complex mult-year financial model.

1) Analyzes data to support key assumptions in the financial model. Evaluates the expected operating margin and works with leadership to identify targets for revenue enhancement and cost management.

2) Evaluates projected financial and operating results in the context of external benchmarks developed by rating agencies and other organizations.

3) Helps prepare annual financial model presentation and schedules for Finance Committee.


Provides financial structure and analytics to link business development opportunities to expected financial results and risks.


Performs analytic aspect of the SCCA investment strategy.  Interacts with investment managers and consultant.  Prepares and validates reports for Finance Committee and Board. 


Educates self through industry readings, conferences, and other forums on investment, debt, financial and healthcare trends and identifies and analyzes potential implications to the SCCA.


Performs other related duties and ad-hoc reporting as required.


Anayltic/Technical Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking and analytic skills to research, analyze and interpret complex data, formulate recommendations and resolve problems.
  • Excellent statistical and data-modeling skills - prepares complex financial analysis and interpretations with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong financial skills, including a firm understanding of the income statement and balance sheet.
  • Ability to identify and resolve or explain inconsistencies in financial analysis and data.
  • Profiecient with numerous computer applications – spreadsheets, databases and report writers.
  • Advanced technical skills with financial and encounter based software programs such as Tableau, Hospital Advisor and Decision Tools.
  • Advanced expertise with database tools such as SQL Server and Access.
  • Able to independently prioritize multiple projects, brings projects to completions and meet deadlines.
  • Works independently under minimal supervision with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
  • Grasps and applies new concepts quickly.
  • Able to work in a high pressure, deadline oriented, and complex health care environment.

Communication Skills

  • Communicates verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to prepare presentations and correspondence for individuals at SCCA including senior management in a clear and concise manner. Able to present content to senior leaders and other groups. 


  • Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree required. Master's Degree preferred.

Experience:  Five years of financial analyst experience, preferably in a healthcare environment or relevant experience.
