The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), located in Seattle, Washington, is part of a dynamic collaboration among three organizations known nationally and internationally for their patient care and research: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, and Seattle Children's.  Over the past 25 years, these institutions have worked together to support their mission of adult and pediatric oncology patient care services, research and education.

The Clinical Analyst II will lead analytic projects that promote data-driven decision making and a culture of analytics throughout the organization.  This position will leverage existing healthcare outpatient operations and clinical information systems expertise to develop and maintain standard metrics and analyses that enable the SCCA to assess and improve the efficiency of healthcare delivery.


  • Work collaboratively with business partners that enable Clinical Analytics to develop standard metrics based on the analytical needs of the organization and effectively present this information to key customers. The customers who receive this information include SCCA senior leaders, department managers, healthcare providers and outside agencies.
  • Develop subject matter expertise around key cancer programs, supportive services and outpatient clinical operations specific to the SCCA.
  • Efficiently share key learnings with analyst community and promote Clinical Analytics capabilities with business partners.
  • Lead analytical efforts related to continuous process improvement (CPI) initiatives, enterprise sponsored projects, ad hoc enquiries and automated reporting.
  • Advance competencies around core applications/tools: Epic, Cerner, Business Objects, Tableau and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Participate in projects related to design, development, documentation and maintenance of business intelligence capabilities.
  • Provide user education on information delivery system/capabilities with the goal of reduced reliance, over time, on Clinical Analytics.



  • BA/BS in healthcare informatics, business/healthcare administration or other similar degree
  • 5 years of experience in data development/business intelligence/analytics
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Passion for data, analytics and business intelligence
  • Strong communication skills, especially between operational staff and supervisors
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams to produce high-quality work products
  • Personal initiative, learning focus, and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with relational databases and data management platforms (e.g. SQL Server)
  • Intermediate SQL language knowledge
  • Data visualization skillset (Tableau preferred)
  • MS Office Suite


  • Master’s degree or 5-8 years of experience in data development/business intelligence/analytics
  • Familiarity with healthcare industry and terminology and/or experience working with healthcare data (e.g. scheduling, billing, clinical, research data)
  • Experience with and knowledge of business intelligence tools and capabilities (e.g. SSMS, Tableau, OLAP, R or other statistics packages, data warehousing, data modeling)
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodology
