    About the Department

    The Pharmacokinetics Laboratory at SCCA is specialized in Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) for patients diagnosed with various blood disorders.  The laboratory provides its expertise and support to many providers who seek to improve their patient’s outcomes. Providing clinical services for more than 15 years, it is one of the most highly regarded laboratories in the medical community and has clients across USA and Canada.



    The Associate Director works closely with the Laboratory Director and Manager to provide high-quality clinical services as per institutional and laboratory standards. Under the supervision of the Laboratory Director, the Associate Director is responsible for the coordination, development, and implementation of new clinical tests. He or she will also lead laboratory projects and initiatives for process improvement within the Pharmacokinetics Laboratory. This includes, but not limited to, working closely with lab team members to develop and implement procedures and practices, provide oversight for standard operating procedures, equipment validation, and data and quality management. The Associate Director also participates in laboratory accreditation, testing proficiency, research and education, as well as general scientific laboratory oversight. He/she will assist the Director, Manager, and Clinical Laboratory leadership to carry out the vision and missions of the Laboratory.

    Key responsibilities:

    1. Be accessible to the laboratory staff during normal operating hours as scheduled to provide onsite, telephone, and/or electronic consultation to laboratory staff and clients for drug therapeutic drug monitoring.
    2. Review patient pharmacokinetics data and dose recommendations in a timely, thorough manner. Be available, on site or off site when scheduled, for consultation to laboratory clients on matters relating to the quality of the test results and their interpretation concerning specific patient populations.
    3. Work closely with Laboratory Director and Manager to establish and monitor quality controls to ensure high quality, accurate results.
    4. Develop, support, and maintain new business/assays/research projects in line with SCCA objectives
    5. Provide direction, education, and leadership to staff to ensure efficient and effective operations in the areas of laboratory and testing quality.



    • PharmD, PhD, or MD with at least one year of clinically applicable pharmacokinetics/ pharmacodynamics experience is required
    • Must be eligible for licensure and/or certification in the State of Washington
    • Additional experience in population pharmacokinetic modeling, analytical assay development, pharmacogenomics, or other related area is desired.
    • Experiences working with LC/MS and GC/MS are a plus.
    • Residency and/or fellowship is preferred.
