Overview

The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance Administrative Fellowship Program offers early careerists an opportunity to develop their leadership style and to use their skills and competencies at one of the top cancer programs in the nation, and the top ranked cancer hospital in the state of Washington. The fellow will be placed within the Strategy and Business Development arm of the institution, specifically within Service Line Management.   This will give the student exposure across the care continuum and experience with executive leadership as well as clinical leadership.

 

Responsibilities:

Project-based in nature, the fellowship enables the fellow and the designated preceptor to determine the appropriate project portfolio through a concentration option that ensures a learning environment and the ability to translate academic theory into practice.

 

The program is one year in length. The fundamental purpose of this program is to afford the fellow with practical experience through direct exposure to and active participation in a variety of administrative activities.

The administrative fellowship offers an opportunity to learn about the structure, philosophy, values and mission of SCCA, which includes UW Medicine, Seattle Children’s, and the Fred Hutch.  Fellows will learn about the interrelations of the medical center components in an environment that supports and encourages learning.

Qualifications

Graduate degrees eligible for the program are: business administration (MBA), health care administration (MHA), public health (MPH), and other health-related accredited master's programs.

 

Qualities we look for in a candidate are: health care experience (preferably within a health care system); a strong academic record; strong communication skills (both oral and written) and leadership skills; ability to analyze data; ability to work on multiple projects at once; ability to be flexible, intuitive and inventive; self-motivated and team oriented; conducts self in a professional manner; and knowledgeable about our health care organization.

 

SCCA offers a competitive salary and benefits package for the duration of the 12 month program.

 

Start Date of Fellowship: July 2, 2018

End Date of Fellowship: 12 months after official start date
