The Transfusion Services Officer/ Manager is responsible for the planning, directing and controlling the services and daily operations of the Transfusion Service Office. The manager oversees the administrative functions including day-to-day operations, develop and oversee budget, human resources management, and quality assurance activities.  The manager works closely with the medical director to develop and monitor clinical practice guidelines.


The manager collaborates with medical leaders, peers and colleagues at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) as well as our partner institutions (FHCRC, UWMC and CHRMC) to assure the provision of high quality, patient and family-centered care in an environment that facilitates the conduct of clinical care and research. The  manager serves as an active liaison with the Puget Sound Blood Center to assure appropriate and safe blood products and testing is delivered to all SCCA patients across all the sites of care, both inpatient and outpatient.  Work situations range from clinical to managerial and require independent decision-making, analysis, policy and program development, problem and issue resolution and leadership skills.


Licensed Healthcare Professional (RN, CLS, MT or equivalent)

  • A master’s degree in healthcare or business or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Transfusion Safety experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience required.
  • Transplant experience strongly desired.
  • Progressive responsible administrative experience for 5 or more years
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, effectively and concisely to a variety of audiences
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong Human Resource skills

Proficiency in use of standard office computer software programs, equipment and clinical information systems
