This position is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative cancer education programs and resources. Partners with with providers, nurses and staff to assess patient learning needs and develop multimedia educational interventions.  Maintain and promote state of the art oncology patient education to help the SCCA program meet the highest national standards of information delivery and program development and improve oncology outcomes.


  • Plans, implements, presents and evaluates cancer education programs, events and resources
  • Utilizes a variety of instructional methods in delivering programs/materials to varyingPrepares complex patient education content
  • audiences.
  • Creates and assists with video/multimedia projects insuring departmental and SCCA standards
  • In support of research, integrate patient and family education content in existing and future reseach activities and protocols
  • Oversees the development, updating and management of the eDMS (electronic document management system)
  • Leads CPI efforts to effectively evaluate data, monitor program utilization and improve access to services
  • Establishes local, state, national and international networks with cancer related education committees and organizations ie NCI, ACS, COC, NCCN

  • Knowledge of adult learning concepts to provide effective education
  • Broad based knowledge of patient education and health promotion concepts
  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Excellent judgement, critical thinking, and problem solving skills
  • Computer literacy with word processing, database management, web and desktop publishing applications.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms
  • Knowledge of national healthcare policy and procedures
  • Ability to prepare, monitor and interpret budgets including analysis of variences
  • Superior project management skills


BA/BS in Health Education, Public Health, Nursing,, Social Work or related field, (Masters preferred)

5-7 years working in a health care organization, (oncology preferred)



CHES (Certified Health Education Specialist), RN
